A New Day and Universal Thread

A New Day and Universal Thread are two new brands that were added to the Ready to Wear floor pad in Target.

Merona was phased out and in came A New Day. This line has everything from clothing to shoes and accessories. A New Day is a great brand for your casual weekend outings or work staples such as pants and blazers. Target wanted to move towards a boutique feel, so each of these brands is catered to certain styles. There are so many great pieces offered in A New Day that can fit a variety of lifestyles. I think the clothes have a great fit and run true to size for the most part. Additionally, A New Day partnered with Vital Voices for a limited-time collection that is designed to celebrate women, their uniqueness and their voices. I loved the brand before, but this made me proud to have it in our stores and that there were 6 female leaders that inspired the Vital Voices collection.

Universal Thread is my personal favorite collection, besides Wild Fable of course. Everything in this collection is under $40.00. It is a denim-based collection and is offered in full size ranges. I would describe the collection as having many earthy  and western influences. Which is right up my alley. I own a lot of pieces from Universal Thread and I love them. The jeans fit a little big so I wore a smaller size than I usually would. Plus, they thought about being sensory friendly which is helpful for anyone living with a disability. Plus there is new denim technology that has features such as black jeans that don’t fade, whites that are stain resistant, and a technology that keeps your jeans from getting baggy. I would definitely recommend Universal Thread.

Art Class

After Cat & Jacks great success, Target decided to launch another kids line specifically for big girls and boys. They named this line art class. It is a more trendy line for the young ones. The goal is to allow kids to express themselves through their clothing, hence why the brand is named “Art Class.” The line is very fashion forward and will feature capsule collections from time to time. The clothes will range from $5.99 to $24.99. Like Cat & Jack, Target had a group of children within the age group that will be wearing the clothing, come to headquarters to give them feedback and design their own pieces that wold be featured in the line. I have personally been working in the Art Class section in both boys and girls and wished that they made certain garments in my size. I think it’s super fashionable and I love that they let kids help with the design process.

JoyLab and Isabelle Maternity

Both JoyLab and Isabelle Maternity by Ingrid & Isabel serve specific purposes in peoples lives. JoyLab is a wonderful line that integrates the trend of Athleisure into our athletic wear section of the store. The new maternity line was extremely exciting because it offers much better options than the line we had previously had for maternity wear.

Athleisure has become a major trend in the fashion world. People want to look good and fashion-forward while still remaining comfy. JoyLab integrates the functionality of sportswear, but make it fashion forward and we all know work out clothes are typically pretty comfortable. This line is available from size ranges XS to 4X and everything will be between the price points of $14.99 and $44.99. I personally really like JoyLab. It is slightly more expensive than what we’re used to from C9, but I think that the fashion forward prints and designs are worth it. I also find that it fits true to size.

Isabel Maternity by Ingrid & Isabel was a super exciting brand launch for Target. They wanted to offer solutions for pregnant women to feel less intimidated and like they were getting a good deal on clothes they could only get use out of for nine months. This is a partnership with Ingrid & Isabel which has been in the maternity industry for a long time. Target wanted to make the journey into motherhood easier and more fun and they wanted to do this by creating a maternity line that had great fit while also being fashionable. I, myself, have never been pregnant, so I have not worn the line myself but I would love to hear what anyone else thinks about it!

Prologue and Who What Wear

Prologue and Who What Wear are two of our business casual clothing lines. Prologue is fairly new and was brought in to replace Mossimo Black. I believe that Prologue is more neutrals and basics, while Who What Wear is very trendy and fashion forward with fun prints and silhouettes.

Prologue is a minimalist brand. Target wants to focus on quality fabrics and stick with on-trend cuts. The idea is somewhat like Mossimo Black, it has the ability to be worn at the office and then there are add-ons for after office hours. Prologue will is a good brand for those that prefer simple clothing and want a brand that they can mix and match to wear to the office and out afterwards. I personally was not a huge fan of Prologue. There are some pieces that would be great staple pieces for any wardrobe though. Additionally, anyone that gears towards minimalist fashion will enjoy this brand.

Who What Wear is one of my personal favorite brands at Target. I love all the prints and the trendy styles that cycle through. Who What Wear focuses on fashion that can be worn in the workplace. New pieces come out every month. There are sizes 2-26 and plus-sizes available as well. I personally have bought this brand and I think it fits true to size. I love everything that I have bought and I would recommend it as a more trendy and fun way to dress for work, if people are into fashion.

House Warming and Heart Warming

Target brought on two fantastic brands that have celebrity collaborators, Cravings by Chrissy Teigen and Hearth and Hand by Magnolia which is Chip and Joanna Gaines’ brand.

Chrissy Teigen’s brand is going to feature kitchen and tabletop wares. This line is special because she uses all these products when cooking in her own kitchen. The line includes things such as glassware and items to actually cook with. The collection has 40 items with a price range of $4-$140. Additionally, Target will have an exclusive version of her second cook book, Cravings: Hungry for More. The collection is rustic, yet still has a homey feel to it. For anyone that loves to cook and enjoys the rustic look, this line is for you!

The next brand is Hearth and Hand by Magnolia! Chip and Joanna Gaines from the show Fixer Upper have created this line with Target. This is a brand that is close to my heart because I did the overnight to help set it up. In the morning, I got to watch the crowds swarm in, excited to make their Hearth and Hand purchases. I never had watched the show, Fixer Upper, so I didn’t realize the extreme popularity that Chip and Joanna Gaines had attracted. It was really exciting to see the guests so excited over this new brand. The line features all different sorts of house wears and home accessories, such as dinnerware sets and candles. I think this line has a bit of a rustic feel as well. I absolutely would recommend this line!

Cat & Jack

One of the brand launches that I was super excited about during my time with Target was Cat & Jack, It was launched back in 2016 to replace some of our other in-house brands that we got rid of. This line was designed for both kids and babies.

During the first stages of designing the products the creators had kids of all ages, as well as, their moms and dads come in to give feedback on prints, fabric choices and other design features. Their feedback was taken from the beginning stages to final product choice. Their opinion was taken into account throughout all processes of the supply chain.

This line is really cool because it grows with your kid. You can get sizes ranging from 0-24 months, 2T-5T, 4-18 and XS-XL. It also has affordable price points, so you don’t break the bank every time your kid grows a size.

My favorite part about the brand is that they offer a one year warranty. Basically if anything happens such as tears or shrinks within a year of the purchase, the guest is able to exchange it for a new product or return it. If you have children this is definitely a great brand to invest in.

Original Use

Original Use is the men’s version of Wild Fable. It is inspired by street style and caters to the high-schoolers and young adults that have an interest in fashion and want to express themselves through their clothing. This new Target brand also has inclusive sizing with Big & Tall sizes offered in the line. It will range in price from $10 to $40.

Before Good Fellow, Target didn’t have many lines that catered to their male clientele. Now they have an in house brand for teens/young adults, as well as, older men. Plus they have their mens active line.

Unfortunately, I did not get to spend much time at the fitting room so I was not able to talk to any guests about how they felt about the line and how the clothing fit. Although, if it’s anything like Willd Fable it will run a little big.

Wild Fable

Wild Fable is a new young contemporary line that Target recently added to their collection of in-house brands. It will be replacing Xhilaration and Mossimo Supply Co. It’s a fast fashion brand that is going to keep up with constantly changing trends in the fashion industry. It has an all inclusive size range of 0 up to 26W. Additionally, price points don’t get any higher than $39.99 and are as low as $3.99.

When this line originally came off the truck, I was very excited about it. I loved pretty much everything I saw and felt like I needed it. This is the perfect line to appeal to teens and young adults. It reminds me a lot of Urban Outfitters. This doesn’t only stop with the clothing, but the visual merchandising aspect of the line. The displays look a lot like the Displays that Urban Outfitters has. They are sleek wooden fixtures with trendy pictures attached to them. They drew me in and I’m sure they’ll draw any other teen or young adult in.

I own a couple of pieces from the line myself and I find that it runs a bit large. I wear one size smaller than I typically would in the pants. The shirts fit pretty true to size though. Additionally, I had my friend at work try on a couple of the pieces for me. She found the same to be true. IMG_7014.JPGIMG_7020.JPG

Ways to Save

Something that is super awesome about Target is all the ways that consumers are able to save throughout their shopping trips. These include the RedCard, cartwheel offers and coupons. All of which can be stored in your Target Wallet.

The RedCard is something I’m sure anyone that has shopped at Target before has heard of. It is a super easy way to save 5% on all of your purchases every time you shop at Target. I know most of you are thinking that you don’t want another credit card, but the really neat thing about this card is that you have the option of getting it in credit or debit. You sign up for the credit card like you would any other. In order to get the debit card, you must bring in a black check with which a Target employee can sign you up. It’s super easy and anything you spend will come directly out of your bank account. It’s just like using your everyday debit card when shopping at Target, but you’ll save 5% each time you shop. Once your a RedCard holder, you get exclusive access to things such as early Black Friday deals or special deals only available to RedCard holders.

Next I’ll touch on the Target wallet, as that is important when obtaining cartwheel offers and coupons. The wallet is super easy to access directly through the Target app, which is available on all smart phones. In this wallet you can store your Target card(s), cartwheel offers, coupons and gift cards. If you have the app you don’t even have to carry your card anymore because you can pay through the app.

Cartwheel offers are probably not as well known. Although I’m sure many avid shoppers know exactly what they are. If you don’t, I highly recommend you start using them. Cartwheel offers are special offers that Target gives off of certain products on any certain day. A majority of the time there are Cartwheel offers on Target brand products. They are easy to access. All you have to do is scan the barcode of anything your buying directly in the Target app and if there are any Cartwheel offers, they will be added directly to your wallet. Once the barcode on your wallet is scanned, the discount is taken off.

Finally, though the Target wallet, there are coupons available. There are two different kinds of coupons. Ones that are available to everyone and ones that are available to RedCard holders. You can access them by going to the wallet tab in the Target app and clicking on view coupons.

If you didn’t already know about these ways to save at Target, I highly recommend you check them out. It’s a great way to save money, especially if you are a fre
